We take great pride in being able to help train tomorrow’s community health leaders. We hope you will join us to gain a greater understanding of quality, rural-based, community health.

Clinical rotations for MD/DO, PA, and NP Students

  • Our Family Medicine/Primary Care Clinical Clerkship provides students with hands-on experience in a rural healthcare setting. Participants work closely with our dedicated medical providers and staff, gaining exposure to a wide range of medical conditions and patient populations.

The rotation emphasizes comprehensive, patient-centered care, preventative medicine, and the management of chronic diseases. Students will develop clinical skills through direct patient interaction, case discussions, and opportunities to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration. This rotation is ideal for those interested in rural health and primary care.

Students are able to work at either of our outpatient clinics in Greensboro, AL, or Moundville, AL.

  • The Emergency Medicine Clinical Clerkship at Hale County Hospital offers students an immersive experience in a rural emergency department. Under the guidance of experienced emergency medical providers, students will manage a diverse array of acute medical conditions, trauma cases, and critical care scenarios. This rotation emphasizes quick decision-making, procedural skills, and effective teamwork in high-pressure situations. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of emergency care in a rural community setting.

  • Hale County Hospital offers medical and health professions students focused clinical clerkship opportunities in Adult and Geriatric Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. These rotations take place in outpatient psychiatry clinics and nursing home settings, providing students with hands-on experience in diagnosing and managing a wide range of mental health conditions.

Through these tailored experiences, students will develop a deeper understanding of mental health care across the lifespan, with an emphasis on the unique needs of rural populations. This clerkship is ideal for those interested in community-focused psychiatry and patient-centered care.

  • This four-week elective offers health professions students a unique opportunity to explore healthcare in a rural setting, focusing on both hospital-based care and community health initiatives. • Psychiatry

    • Family Medicine (includes outpatient clinic, hospital rounds, Primary Care Plus and Halo Aesthetics Clinic)
